All though the four-member band Racoon is Dutch, they can best be described as a band you’d see performing in an Irish or English pub encouraging sing-a-longs. The group consists of Bart van der Weide on vocals, Dennis Huige on guitar, Stefan de Kroon on bass, and Paul Bukkens on drums. The band mingles folk rock injected with social commentary, with mostly ballad material and story like lyrics. Songs like Brother, Close Your Eyes, Love You More, and Laugh About It are the type of tunes that you would expect to hear in movie soundtracks. The group is extremely unique, and at times reminiscent of U2, and Paul Simon in both song structure and delivery. Give them a listen!

Racoon may just be the perfect antidote for our current pop/rock doldrums. Led by Bart van der Weide's warm vocals, the Dutch band delivers a set of 14 unadorned yet instantly accessible acoustic-driven songs on Another Day. Highlights include previous platinum overseas single "Love You More," title track "Another Day" and U.S. lead single "Close Your Eyes." It's no wonder why the band has earned the Dutch government's unprecedented backing. "We make our living as musicians, which is a little boy's dream, and we're still living that dream," van der Weide enthuses. Despite their diverse musical influences, Racoon's sound is refreshingly all their own.
